Lots of breads are labeled "wheat" or "multigrain," but these words alone (without the word "whole" attached) can be misleading. If you don't see the word "whole" on the package, it means the bread might not be made from the entire kernel.

If you're not sure, look at the ingredient list to see if the first ingredient is "whole-wheat flour" (or other kind of whole grain). And check the nutrition information panel to be sure the bread gives you 3 grams or more of fiber per serving.

Bread is a really hot topic and is targeted as the root of many health problems. Overall, bread gets a bad reputation because grains are not easy for your body to digest, can overwork your pancreatic enzymes, contain the anti-nutrient phytic acid and an abundance of dreaded gluten. Also, our wheat crops in this country have been through some serious genetic manipulation to make them profitable for the food industry and less healthy for us.
Sorry for the confusion. The original recipe used bread yeast, which will work, because it feeds on sugars, but I typically just use a packet of wine yeast, which is more than enough for a batch of wine. 2ff7e9595c
